What is Jungle Scout?

Jungle Scout is a web app and Chrome extension that helps sellers on Amazon reach the right customer, boost their sales and make a profit. It’s packed with a suite of high-quality tools to help support and grow your Amazon business.

Becoming a seller on Amazon can be difficult and you might not know where to start.

What is the Jungle Scout Academy Course?

Jungle Scout Academy

The Jungle Scout Academy course was launched in 2019 and was set up to help subscribers to the Jungle Scout web app make the most of its features by teaching them how to use each tool.

It’s designed as a series of short videos so you can pick up and pause your learning whenever it’s convenient for you.

As part of the programme, you even get lessons from Jungle Scout CEO and founder Greg Mercer, who knows just about everything there is to know about Jungle Scout’s tools and features. Greg Mercer has sold over $10 million on the Amazon platform and can give you first-hand advice on how to grow an Amazon seller business and make a profit.

A Look Inside the Course

Every single one of these videos is free with a monthly Jungle Scout subscription.

As part of the course, you also get to attend live Q&A sessions with industry leading Jungle Scout experts, who will be able to offer you support and answer all your tricky questions, such as how to understand sales data and use the sales estimator, how to track your inventory and how to get a high keywords score.

Included in the course are free step-by-step case studies which allow you to see which processes and tools were used by some of the most successful Amazon sellers. You don’t need to use Youtube or switch tabs between different articles to use the Jungle Scout training courses — all the videos are embedded right into the Jungle Scout web app.

The Course Modules

There are 6 main modules in the Jungle Scout Academy course. Here’s a summary of what you can expect to find in each module.

1: Getting Started Selling on Amazon

If you’re completely new to Amazon selling, here’s where to start your learning experience with Jungle Scout Academy.

This module, which has 4 episodes, is an introductory series to help news sellers who are unfamiliar with selling on Amazon. It contains all the basics for navigating the Amazon seller platform.

2: Product Research

Now you’re set on becoming an Amazon seller, you’ll need to find a niche and come up with some product ideas.

This 12-episode module teaches new sellers all they need to know when you want to sell a new product on Amazon, including how to build out product ideas, how to search for a product that’ll attract high demand, how to do keyword research and how to get the best data on the quality, price and customer base for a new product.

3: Optimizing Your Listing

Once you’ve done you’re product research and got a new product listed on Amazon, you’ll want to know how to optimize your listing to get high demand and maximise monthly sales revenue.

This series of 6 episodes teaches you how to do just that, including how to improve visibility on search results with the right relevant keywords, how best to describe a product and how to improve the prominence of your business as new sellers on Amazon.

4: Launching Your Product

Experienced Amazon sellers will tell you that the product which gets you the most sales per month — and the one that’ll make you the most money — is the one that’s had the perfect launch.

This series of 5 episodes will show you what you need to do, including all the every e commerce tools and key data points you’ll need to launch your product in order to get it to the top of search results and maximise product sales.

5: How to Use Jungle Scout

Now that you have a sense of how to list your product and boost monthly product sales, it’s time to figure out how Jungle Scout can help.

This packed 12-episode series gives you an insight into how to use all of the amazing tools that come with the Jungle Scout subscription, including the keyword scout, supplier database, sales analytics, product tracker, product database and research tool.

6: Launch Features

If you need extra help launching your product, Jungle Scout’s launch tools will help you save time by showing you the techniques used by all the top Amazon sellers when they sell a new product.

This series of 4 episodes shows you how to get the most out of the Jungle Scout tools.

Pros

There is extensive search volume information on the platform, allowing you to choose the right listing information to boost sales.

The keyword scout tool makes it easy to find the right keywords to improve your business’s visibility.

The opportunity score and product tracker tool helps you analyze key trends in your product’s sales data.

There’s great, responsive customer support if you encounter a problem that you can’t solve.

As part of your subscription, you get access to an extensive supplier database, allowing you to search for the right supplier to grow your selling opportunities, whatever your niche.

The Jungle Scout extension is industry leading and makes selling from your product database on Amazon much more intuitive.

There are no hidden costs — once you’re a subscriber, all the features in your membership are free to use.

Cons

Unlike some alternatives, you don’t get a free trial with Jungle Scout, although you are offered a 7-day money back guarantee if you decide you don’t like the service within the first 7 days.

While there is a Jungle Scout chrome extension, there isn’t a mobile app, which can be a pain if you want to track your sales performance while you’re on holiday or on the go.

Unless you benefit from one of the Jungle Scout offers, the price per month of a subscription is a little higher than some competitors, so you need to know that you’re making full use of its features if you want to get value for money.

If you intend to sell thousands of products, the inventory management system can become a little cumbersome.

Jungle Scout Academy Student Reviews

A number of former students of the Jungle Scout training course having given reviews of the course on Trustpilot. One student said:

Love love jungle scout training, it was very comprehensive and easy to understand! Thank you to Greg Mercer and Lenny! Great high quality instruction!

Another student said:

Its intimidating at first for sure so make sure to go to the Academy and watch JS YouTube videos which breakdown the process step by step. Be ready to put some time in but you will feel comfort in knowing help is always a click away.

Alternatives

Jungle Scout is not the only programme out there to teach you how to sell on Amazon. Here are some of the main competitors to Jungle Scout.

Freedom Ticket – Helium 10

Helium 10 is an Amazon sellers tool that comes with over 10 different tools. It has some great features including a product tracker, a keyword rank tracker and a powerful Chrome extension tool. Each of the paid plans come with a free training course called Freedom ticket, originally run by Amazon legend Kevin King.

However, it does lack some of the features of Jungle Scout, including an opportunity score, and extensive pricing data.

Private Label Masters – Tim Sanders

An alternative Amazon FBA training course is Tim Sanders’ Private Label Masters. This course offers you all the tips you need to maximise your sales on Amazon, and includes a number of updates for 2021. Sanders himself runs a Facebook support group for trainees, and is active in it replying regularly to questions and problems posed by trainees and offering them tips and advice.

However, this course does not offer you any information on building a supplier database, and the Chrome extension produced by Sanders does not appear to work in all cases.
